Lets face it Marvel Studios is not the same as it was 5 years ago. Yeah sure, there have been a tonne of new characters like America Chavez, The Eternals who have finally made it to the big screens. But ever since Stan Lee's passing in Nov of 2018, it seems as if every film's quality is deteriorating. Now don't get me wrong,I don't mean that the other directors are bad or anything and have no personal vendetta against them either. I am just pointing out the lack of any clear storyline. I mean, sure the quality of audio, the cliff-hangers and the graphics are still amazing and astounding to say the least, but if you compare say the movie "Thor : Dark world" to "Thor : Love and Thunder" the difference is clearly visible.
Sure you may argue that the latter introduced Hercules and confirmed the existence of several other gods, but it also did away with Jane foster and as of right now has had no direct impact on the main story speaking of which the past 4 to 5 movies have all just killed off some or the other character and at present we have no real clue about what is going on in the MCU. This however was not the case for dark world introduced us the the reality stone (one of the 6 infinity stones Thanos used to snap away half the universe in infinity war). Sure it may be a little to early to judge but thoughts can be changed can't they ?
On the other hand however Marvel's TV shows have been blowing up recently. Over the past 3 years marvel has released a plethora of Disney+ exclusive TV shows from LOKI to the most recent being Ms.Marvel These shows seem to be better produced and also garner more attention from fans as they have BETTER STORYLINES.
As a company marvel has best been known for the storyline, comedy and visual effects in its movies, with some like "Guardians of the Galaxy : vol-1" and "Avengers : Infinity war" breaking record books.
It is quite obvious that marvel is concentrating more on TV shows than on movies these days. While I am not defending them being being a movie lover myself I do get where they are coming from.
Producing a movie would require a LOT more effort and capital than a TV show and many people these days just don't have the patience to sit for say 1.5 to 3 hours to watch a movie with a small impact on the greater storyline. They rather prefer to watch it over 3 weeks with MORE content in each episode or binge watch the entire thing which produces the same result. Each episode of the series averages somewhere between 45-60 mins in length.
So a good solution would probably be to keep up the TV shows with the same pace but put a little bit more effort into developing the storyline in the movies and probably give the characters in the TV shows a chance at the big screen. Maybe then if its a hit they could focus more capital towards movies... Idk but I'll let you decided which do you think is better movies or Tv shows ? write down in the comments or dm on insta. And btw A happy Independence Day to all Indians reading this on the day of publishing. Anyways, until next time folks
Peace Out!
P.S : To those wondering I have had exams and have been really busy irl the past 4 months to the day. But I'll try to post more consistently going forward
